[rhn-users] Re: <Standard time, msg#9> rhn-users digest, Vol 1 #736 - 9 msgs

Our machines, two RH9 and one RH8.0 that I checked, adjusted from central
daylight savings to central standard just fine.
If I remember correctly, when installing (RH8.0 and RH9), while selecting
the time zone and then the time, you can (maybe on a second tab (???))
select a box for automatically adjusting to/from daylight savings time.
Once installed, I cannot find anything to allow for daylight savings (from
(KDE) Start -> System Settings -> Date & Time).
I did find the following (from
http://www.interex.org/pubcontent/enterprise/jul99/12chew.html), although I
do not remember doing so this way, and checking the Date & Time shows the
'System clock uses UTC' option setting is unchecked:
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
-Time Zone Configuration
-The Red Hat Linux installation process will prompt you to set your system
-clock. You may wish to set the hardware clock to Greenwich Mean
-Time (GMT, also known as Coordinated Universal Time). Doing so will
-enable Linux to adjust to daylight savings time, if your time zone follows
-such a convention.
-
-Caution: on machines where Linux and some other operating system co-
-reside, the clock is shared by both systems. If the other operating system
-automatically does time adjustment, the likelihood is that the time will
not
-be adjusted correctly.
