That's correct, the actual name of the package is embedded in the RPM
header. <flame> SuSE is just trying to make it hard to figure out when
there is a newer package available </flame>

I would recommend AGAINST using a SuSE binary RPM on RedHat, and vice versa.
The SRPM should be available from SuSE, you may be able to just rpm
--rebuild src.rpm on RedHat, or it may need a couple of tweaks to the spec
file. Should be mostly painless... Later,
