If you want to "give it a shot", you might try looking at doxygen generated
doco for the rpm API. Using doxygen in rpm is still a work in progress,
but newer interfaces are documented. There's a snapshot at

from doing "make doxygen" on a CVS checkout.

I'll be happy to fill in text where needed if that helps you "give it a shot".
