There's a really messy and massively complicated operation to get glibc
into a ftp chroot here. I'd say erase the package, and install, rather
than trying to upgrade.

FWIW, you probably don't need this package.

You can live without nscd if necessary, but it shouldn't be failing like this.

Is there anything else, besides package installs, broken? Can/have you rebooted?

Do you have enough disk space in all your partitions?

If you add -vv to your installs, you should get lots of gory details about
what's happening, and be able to see the %pre/%post scripts line by line.
