RedHat - common in the US, fairly business-oriented. The NT-4 of the Linux
world
Mandrake - great for newbies, easy install. Can't really hack around with it.
The XP of Linux
SuSE - Greater use in Euorope. Great documentation, advanced software, good
install/setup (not as good as Mandrake). Not dso good for learning Linux. VMS
of the linux world.
Debian - Stable, older, secure. a "pure" linux system (see slackware) with
better installation/update. BeOS like
Slackware - "pure linux". Not really for newbies, but great for learning
Unix. Socket-set of Linux
There are hundresds of types of Linux distro, but those are the major ones.
