Guys - I'm at the end of my tether - I need help
desperately!
I'm running RedHat 6.1 at home, and want to install some neat
stuff that I got off the net as rpm files.
First problem: my version of rpm cannot install the new rpm
files. "OK", I thought, "I'll upgrade the rpm program". Got hold of
rpm-4.0.2.i386.rpm and tried to install it - same problem.
So you can't use your old rpm program to upgrade the rpm program - seems a bit silly since that is the whole point of rpm. I did not give up and got hold of rpm-4.0.2.i386.tar.gz, and installed it - no problem. Tried to use for the first time - got the error message that it requires libdb-3.1.so. Ok, so I get it. Next try, now it requires libbz2.so.1. I get the distinct impression that I must upgrade some or
other library - but which one?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
