rpm --rebuild

i've got a source rpm and want to rebuild it.
so i tried 

$ rpm --rebuild source.rpm

but the only thing that happens is a output of the shortform of rpm --help.
I was searching for the right syntax but get always the same : rpm --rebuild
or rpm --recompile
i'm using redhat7 with rpm4.
So, whats the matter with --build ?
