thanks,
i'm french, that's why my english is very bad and i insert a part of a first message to a french correspondant.
I write below
I put the file iptables-1.2.4.tar.bz2 in directory /usr/src/RPM/SOURES and the file iptables-1.2.4.spec in /usr/src/RPM/SPECS.

If someone has any idea, answer me.

Do not build rpms as root. set up your user account and build as user.
It is easy to write a spec that might mess up the system.

Then in your homedir, create a file ~/.rpmmacros containing this line

%_topdir        /home/username/RPM


Then create a tree like the one under /usr/src in your homedir.

The top dir mustn't be named RPM. You can call it anything. If you for
example call it HomeRolled ~/rpmmacros would look something like

%_topdir        /home/username/HomeRolled

SOURCES  /home/username/HomeRolled/SPECS... etc.

the dir tree in your homedir

/home/username/HomeRolled/SOURCES  /home/username/HomeRolled/SPECS...
etc.
