while i'm at it

Has anyone ever tried to get an interactive shell script working under
RPM? Here's what I'm after:
Our Solaris product (using pkg) allows the user at install time to
answer a handful of questions, like "Who should the webserver run as"
"What is the document root" etc. The answers are then piped to the
postinstall script with does some nifty perl stuff to 'auto-configure'
httpd.conf, or whichever file it is we're customizing. I tried this with
RPM, and while RPM did echo the questions, it ran right over the read
stuff... I can't so much find anything about interactive shell scripts,
and so i doubt it's supported. But this _IS_ the place to ask, so... i'm
asking. ??
