(a) where in the documentation for RPM or elsewhere does this rule appear?
(b) how do you suggest the reasons for a script installation failure (be it
%pre or %post) be communicated to the user?
Or since we seem to assume all users are programmers, we merely exit with a
non-zero return code and let the user read the installation script to
figure out what went wrong :-)
P.S. - sorry but I had to change the subject line to something vaguely
