RPM not installing

Greetings,
I've inherited a couple of redhat boxes to my network. I've noticed the OS needs updating. After reading the RH site, I believe the program up2date would be the best way of managing these six machine.
I've downloaded the rpm, up2date-1.0.1-1.src.rpm, to the machine and attempted to install it. However when attempting to run the application I'm told it isn't installed. Here is the procedure that I'm using and the results.

When attempting to install:

altoid: /tmp# rpm -ivh up2date-1.0.1-1.src.rpm
up2date                     ##################################################

Check the installation:

altoid: /tmp# rpm -q up2date-1.0.1-1.src.rpm
package up2date-1.0.1-1.src.rpm is not installed

Try again using --force:

altoid: /tmp# rpm -ivh --force up2date-1.0.1-1.src.rpm
up2date                     ##################################################

Check the installation:

altoid: /tmp# rpm -q up2date-1.0.1-1.src.rpm
package up2date-1.0.1-1.src.rpm is not installed

I'm getting the same results when trying to install other RPMs on different machines as well. No errors, no dependencies, just no installation. The OS's are RH6.1 and 6.2. Any input on why this isn't working, and possible solutions would be most appreciated.

Anthony
