Re: rpm doesn't recognize that apache installed

Hi Lamar

THanks for your reply

if i execute 'rpm --rebuild apache-source-name' it complains and gives errors:
Installing apache-2.0.39.src.rpm
error: Unable to open /usr/lib/rpm/macros.perl: No such file or directory
error: Nam field must be present in package: (main package)
error: Version field must be present in package: (main package)
error: Release field must be present in package: (main package)
....

If i try and do 'rpm -ivh apachefile.rpm' it also compainls about failed dependencies:
error: failed dependencies:
/usr/bin/getgid is needed by apache-2.0.39-0.2
/bin/id is neede by apache-2.0.39-0.2
rc-scripts is neede by apache-2.0.39-0.2
......

So i can't even get at the source files. For the other src.rpm packages (like mod_perl-1.26-5) that are in the /usr/src/redhat/SPECS.
when i try and install them via the rpm i get the same error indicating that it needs apache installed (which already is).

Please help :(

thanks

desmond
