rpm recover and help

Dear all

I have problem about rpm

I use rpm -qa |grep packagename
Check the package is installed

But I couldn't upgrade or new install other package because the RH said
that the dependence package didn't install before

I tried to rpm -e packagename but RH said that the package did not
install before

Why? and how do I do it

I tried rpm --rebuilddb but also didn't work!!!
