I had a similar problem after a seemingly normal install of 7.3 on a
Intel STL2 motherboard with disks on an Intel SRCU31 RAID controller
(i2o_block).
Although the combaination was listed as supported everywhere I looked I
did not manage to get it to install and have a clean rpmdb afterwards. I
tried clean reinstalls with different raid configs and bios/firmware
upgrades but to no avail. Under time pressure had to resort to using the
on-board Adaptec aic7899 (which did not give the problem) without trying
to debug this further.
