Hello all,
I'm currently using redhat 7.3 and I really do not like the new emacs. I was
trying to install the earlier version from 7.2 and I have not had any
success. Here's what I've been doing.
1. removed emacs from 7.3
2. installed emacs 20.7-41 using the i386rpm
Now, I got this version from the rpm database. They had three files
pertaining to the 7.2 version. They were:
emacs-20.7.41-ia64.rpm
emacs-20.7.41-i386.rpm
emacs-20.7.41-src.rpm
I only installed the i386 rpm. Whenever I type emacs, it says that there is
no such program. I further tested this by doing "which emacs" and nothing
pops up. Usually, "/usr/bin/emacs" would have came up. Could anyone please
explain the difference between the three files? I'm pretty sure that I use
the right rpm since I am on an intel based pc but I'm not sure what the src
rpm is for.
All help is greatly appreciated.
