I am building a kernel rpm with a small patch, Which I plan to deploy via
kickstart to about 200 redhat workstations. So in my mind using the SRPM
was the right way to go. The whole process works but all I get is
kernel-2.4.18-4.i386.rpm and I need kernel-2.4.18-4.i686.rpm.

i'm not sure this thread is really appropriate for this mailing list,
but perhaps i'm misunderstanding what this person is after.
if he wants to build a whole new binary kernel RPM, then sure, he'd
start with the kernel src RPM.
but it sounded like he just wanted to build a new kernel with a
small patch, for which the kernel source RPM and running "make
xconfig" would work just fine.
