Hi rpm-list members,
I have a question regarding rpm and hope I have reached the right place.
Kindly note I'm not subscribed to this list so please reply directly to me.
environment:
redhat 7.2
# uname -a
Linux coma 2.4.7-10 #1 Thu Sep 6 17:27:27 EDT 2001 i686 unknown
# rpm --version
RPM version 4.0.3
question:
I am building an rpm package under a non-root id. The build fails
because rpm is trying to write the package in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i?86 for
which I do not have write permissions. The error is -
error: Could not open /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i686/apagent-1.1-0.i686.rpm:
Permission denied
Is there some way I can specify a different destination directory for rpm to
place the build package ? I couldn't find any related option in the man page or
how-to. I experimented with --root and --buildroot options but they didn't yield
anything. Am I missing something ? Is root the only one who can build rpms ?
Thanx for your time and help.
rgds,
Aniruddha.
