nodeps / force install

I'm trying to install the XFree86 and Mesa packages on a RedHat 7.2 machine.
When I try to do rpm --force --nodeps on the XFree package, it says it wants
Mesa. When I try the same on the Mesa package it says it wants XFree86.
Shouldn't the --nodeps and/or --force remove the catch 22 problem?
