Do I understand correctly, that the version of redhat you
are using has php-4.2.x but you want to install php-4.3.2-x
via rpm?
If that's the case, it would be much easier to find a src.rpm
for php-4.3.2-x rather than try and make one yourself. You may
try looking in the redhat beta (rawhide?) for the newer version
of php.
If you really want to try and replace the php-4.2 tar archive
with a php-4.3 and build an rpm, then you follow the instructions
given in another email regarding installing the 4.2 src.rpm as
a normal user. Then put the php-4.3.tar.gz in the SOURCES
directory and edit the spec file. This is probably the hard
part as there will likely be a lot of patches that may be
specific to 4.2.
Really, you should let someone else do the work for you ;)
