Bug? RPM relocation error

Hi all,

When I try to install any RPM packages, the following error message is displayed:

rpm: relocation error: /usr/lib/librpmdb-4.2.so: undefined symbol: tion

The error occurred after August 28th when the old certifications expired. I am
not sure if this error is related to the certifications, but it is possible.

This kind of error is extremely annoying, because also the Red Carpet software
does not work anymore (unable to start the rcd daemon). As a consequence, I
cannot just reinstall all RPM software either!

It seems that the entire system is stuck (no updates can be applied). Any idea
what might be reason for this problem?
