Okay, so let's recap. The RPM package:
a) does not work with libtool (even though it produces libtool archives
(.la)
b) does not work with Automake
c) cannot be statically compiled
d) cannot be distributed to any platform which does not have copies of
the shared libraries and all their dependenices
e) exports wrapper functions taken from a well-known programming book
f) does not have current documentation
Perhaps this may sound like complaining, but what part of those
"non-bugs" above qualifies RPM to claim that it is a "powerful command
line driving package management system capable of installing,
uninstalling, verifying, querying, and updating computer software
packages", and that is has an "API ... permitting advanced developers
to bypass 'shelling out' to a command line, and to manage such
transactions from within a native coding language"?
Fear not, I will stop "complaining" and start learning to program.
Perhaps if one of us does, maybe RPM will work.
