Hum.. it's easy to configure in apt as well, look at fedora's apt package, or
better yet the to-be-released version at
https://bugzilla.fedora.us/show_bug.cgi?id=304 which does it using a lua script.
Would be trivial to add to apt itself as well but Gustavo seems to prefer the
scripted variants over adding yet more code to apt :)
