OpenPKG patches for RPM 4.2.1

In our OpenPKG (http://www.openpkg.org/) project we now have upgraded to
RPM 4.2.1 (as extracted from the latest .src.rpm in RedHat "rawhide").
First, RedHat and in particular you guys developing the RPM tool did
a remarkable job with RPM 4.2.1. It is certainly one of the best RPM
versions you ever made. We were especially able to remove a few nasty
workarounds we needed in the past.

Nevertheless, for OpenPKG we still need the usual amount of patches,
of course. Partly because for OpenPKG we need even more portability
and cannot stick with Linux'isms, partly because we strip down the
RPM installation a lot more, etc. The result you can find under the
following URLs pointing to the OpenPKG-CURRENT sources for our "openpkg"
bootstrap package (which contains RPM):

As you can see, we classify our patches and especially annotate
each patch part individually. What should be considered for
inclusion into your official RPM sources are at least the patches in
"rpm.patch.bugfix". Additionally, you could try to pick up some parts
from "rpm.patch.porting" if it sounds reasonable to you. Finally, if
you are interested, look also in "rpm.patch.feature" where all the
OpenPKG-specific stuff is located. The "rpm.patch.regen" you can just
ignore, it contains changes against the generated files only.
