Building rpmdb with --justdb

Hi,

I am trying to build a new full rpmdb for Severn/rawhide. All rawhide
packages are available in a single directory (only a single architecture
instance), but when I issue

[leonard@athlon i686]$ rpm --dbpath /home/leonard/rpmdb.severn --justdb -iv
*.rpm 2>&1 | tee ~/RPMIV.log

I get loads of the following errors:

installing package xsane-gimp-0.91-1 needs 3323MB on the /usr filesystem

and the rpmdb stays empty. I did do an --initdb before attempting to fill
the database.

The same happens when I sudo the above command. Why does rpm complain it
needs space on any filesystem if I specify --justdb? How should I build an
rpmdb without actually installing anything on any filesystem?

I see this behaviour on both 7.3 as well as Severn/rawhide.

Bye,
Leonard.
