since way back around 2.5.60, i've been running the test kernel building
straight from a www.kernel.org tarball, and i've had pretty good success.
USB *seems* to be working fine for me -- USB mouse, zip drive, zaurus
cradle. so i'm sticking with the tarball.
and, like i mentioned, suddenly, it all works again. weird.

p.s. i'm currently on rpm-4.2.1-0.11. is it worth rawhiding up
to ".30"?? would that solve any known bugs?
