Upgrading glibc RPM

Hi,

We've got some software that requires glibc 2.3.2.  It needs to run on
a RH 8 box, which runs glibc 2.2.

What's the safest way of added glib2.3 to the box?  I'm currently
building a source RPM for glibc 2.3.2 meant for RH 9 on a RH 8
machine.  Could I just install (not upgrade) the built RPMs (assuming
they build correctly)?

Or should I be doing something different?
