A bug report at http://bugzilla.redhat.com against rpm is likely best,
lest we be boring ;-)

I downloaded rpm 4.4.2 from rpm.org using mercurial and it works fine. Ihave spent too much time with rpm 4.4.5 from wraptastic.org.
