Enabling Joystick???

I have a PCI128 sound card that is recognized as an es1370.  es1370 is
compiled inline in the kernel and works.  I now want to enable the
joystick but I can't figger out how???

Checking /var/log/messages shows that the es1370 is initialized correctly
but states that the joystick is not enabled.  How do I enable it???
