I did, but it seems, I didn't use right options. Sorry.

Is there any workaround (using vfat module from 2.2 kernel)
for RH7.1. Look at the description:
I have to work with both: Netscape and Staroffice on vfat 
and need the kernel 2.4 USB support! Help!


 Star Office erroneously assumes it may ftruncate() a file larger than
before.
 This isnt guaranteed to work and 2.4 vfat legitimately errors it.

 So yes - it really is star office, its one of only two apps I know that
make
 this sssumption blindly (the other is one part of the netscape messenger
mailbox
 handling)
