Yes, there are at least two problems with StarOffice installation and
execution.
First, I upgraded from a seawolf beta to seawolf final and then tried to
install StarOffice 5.2 in as many ways I could think of without success.
People on this list kept on saying, "There's no problem" but of course
that didn't make my installation succeed.
Finally, someone wrote to me privately and said that they had the same
problem which they fixed by deleting the file ~/.user.rdb. When I did
that, I was able to install StarOffice.
Recently I went to run StarOffice, and it kept on aborting. I am running
a networked installation, and I was only able to get StarOffice to run
by again deleting ~/.user.rdb *and* reinstalling the local StarOffice.
Not a big deal, but I hope I don't have to do that every time I want to
run StarOffice.
Secondly, StarOffice installation will not recognize any recent Java
versions. I saw somewhere that it required Java 1.1.8. I don't know if
there is a workaround.
