Are you sure ppp is installed ('rpm -q ppp' shows ppp-2.4.0-2 here).? It
contains the pppd that should be used. Since that is the actual daemon,
whether the kernel has support or not, it's necessary.

As far as I know, all of the RH-supplied kernels come with ppp enabled by
default and should be available.
