In a related (or perhaps not) question, I have a cable connection, and
like to leave my computer ON 24/7 (seti home-aholic hehehe). When I was
in the dark side (read: windows), my computer could stay connected to
internet forever, but now in Linux, I got CASUAL disconnects, when I
come to the computer and try to ping anyplace, it doesn't. So, I do
/sbin/ifdown eth1 and then /sbin/ifup eth1 and voila! internet again. It
only happens once in every three days, or so, it's completelly random.
It doesn't bother me very much (if I DO need internet, I am in the
computer), but kinda intrigues me... if I do a ps aux, I see a "pump"
process around, could that have anything to do with that?
Alex.
