I think some distros jumped on ReiserFS for its marketing value.   I
think  RedHat was right in waiting because
1) ReiserFS still has problems.
2) This was picking the first FS ready instead of the best.  It is better
to wait until all contenders have been officially released, test them,
benchmark them and pick the best.
