I've depmoded, removed and reinstalled cards, moved cards to different
slots, let kudzu find/configure them, manually configured them, on and
on. The 2.4.3-12 kernel is the only one that has gotten to the point
that it won't load the modules at the right point at boot. It will find
one sometimes, sometimes none, never both. This is with the tulip and
3c59x modules. The 3c59x module gets loaded but, it never brings the
link up. Or it gets loaded and brings the link up. Or it never loads the
module. But, the tulip fails 100% of the time. I rmmod and insmod and
start networking at the end of rc.local and it works flawlessly.

The point is I get everything working, depmod, modprobe, whatever, then
reboot and it fails. I can reproduce this 100% of the time with the
minor variation on the 3c59x.

I can also reproduce, on this kernel only, the hang during unmounting
filesystems during reboot or shutdown.

I just compiled 2.4.5 and I think I'll use that for awhile.

Easily amused.
