1. You can edit the boot menu interactively during the boot process.
Saves mucho time if you have an error in the boot menu and nothing
will boot otherwise.
2. After you've edited the boot menu, you don't have to run lilo
or any other command to make it stick.
3. The grub config commands are clearer than lilo's.
4. Grub understands ext2 and vfat, etc. so you can look inside
your partitions and see how your kernel is actually named so
you can boot it, even if you have a typo in the grub menu.
5. The grub menu is optional. You can boot without one,
just by typing some grub commands.
6. Etc, etc, etc, etc.
I was a sceptic. Lilo works, why change I said.
Now I am a grub fan after trying it. The docs could be better,
but they are already better than the lilo docs. Remember when
you were green and first learning lilo tricks?
Well, grub is just better - not perfect, just nicer than lilo.
There is probably at least one lilo feature grub can't do yet,
but that will be fixed shortly.
