Ok. I'm going to make the assumption that your friend likes gdm (as that
was where I found an answer). I think you can add some commands to
/etc/X11/gdm to accomplish this in the [daemon] section of the file:
AutomaticLoginEnable=true
AutomaticLogin=root
Not sure if this will work for your stiuation, good luck.
