LILO doesn't need to know anything about IA-64's new GUID Partition Tables
(GPT) because it uses only blocklists. GRUB needs to know if it's to be
implemented on IA-32 systems and use file systems for stage2 (instead of
blocklists), but at present it doesn't know GPT. A quick look shows that
stage2 would need some overhaul, as they use PC_SLICE_???? in a lot of
places (builtins, all file systems, etc). I think I've got GPT support in
GNU parted done (depending on feedback), and would be happy if someone else
wanted to add GPT support to GRUB. :-)
Thanks,
Matt
