RPM error: db4 error(16) from dbenv->remove: Device or resourcebusy

Last night I tried to install the latest totem and xine-libs from
freshrpms and rpm hung. I did the usual:

rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db.00*
rpm --rebuilddb

but now this constantly returns this error:

error: db4 error(16) from dbenv->remove: Device or resource busy

Does anyone know what this error means and how to fix it?

Are there updated rpm packages, either on rawhide or on
people.redhat.com, that I should upgrade to?
