Centrino Support

Anybody know anything about the progress of support for Intel Centrino-based laptops? The only information I can find is two months old, and it consists of:

1. Intel has Linux Centrino support working in their labs, but isn't ready to release it yet...
2. Presently, the Pentium M processor and Intel 855 chipsets are supported under Linux, but "Centrino Mobile Technology" and the wireless card aren't.

I ask, because I rather like the Sony PCG-Z1A. It's pretty amazing how cool it runs...
