I believe that my problem was, as someone indicated, that I installed apt under psyche and had not updated the package since updating the OS.
I have yet to get around to fixing it, though. Been busy.
I sure appreciate all of the assistance.
I am supposing, now, that they problem I am having with yum is similarly becuase
I installed it under Psyche and it needs updated.
