i was starting  several apps:
netscape, openoffice, gimp, ...

you can check your system
with  top, gnome-system-monitor, ...

[admin xp1800 admin]$ uptime
 1:35pm  up  2:07,  2 users,  load average: 0.02, 0.08, 0.07
[admin xp1800 admin]$ man uptime
[admin xp1800 admin]$ uptime
 1:37pm  up  2:10,  2 users,  load average: 0.12, 0.08, 0.07
[admin xp1800 admin]$ uptime
 1:38pm  up  2:11,  2 users,  load average: 0.97, 0.33, 0.16
[admin xp1800 admin]$ uptime
 1:39pm  up  2:11,  2 users,  load average: 0.71, 0.32, 0.16
[admin xp1800 admin]$ uptime
 1:40pm  up  2:12,  2 users,  load average: 0.23, 0.26, 0.15
[admin xp1800 admin]$ uptime
 1:43pm  up  2:16,  2 users,  load average: 0.31, 0.22, 0.14
[admin xp1800 admin]$ uptime
 1:47pm  up  2:19,  2 users,  load average: 0.18, 0.25, 0.17
[admin xp1800 admin]$ uptime
 1:50pm  up  2:22,  2 users,  load average: 0.00, 0.12, 0.13
