redhat-config-samba won't start

I'm using an  Athlon 1.2 GHz (Thunderbird) with Red
Hat 9 (shrike).
Whenever I start "redhat-config-samba" in a terminal
(Gnome is running),  I get :

There seems to be report of python related problems on
phoebe distribution but it is not quite the same. For
the moment I stick to swat to configure samba anyway
but it would be nice to get redhat-config-samba to
work...
