The answer are in the man pages....
man xinetd
man xinetd.conf
While I don't have imap installed on my system I suspect there is a man
page on imap and pop3s as well.
A general hint... If you run across a command or config file that you
don't know what it does you can try "man whatever" as a first step to
enlightenment.
