what you want to do is called "ripping" or "grabbing", i.e. extract
digital audio data from an audio cd and save it as a wave file.
there are two programs I know and use:
cdda2wav and cdparanoia
cdda2wav (compact disk digital audio to wave) is fast and quite good,
except I usually get an error for the last track of a cd.
cdparanoia is rather slow but nice to have, if you want to make
ultra-extra-hyper-mega-sure that you really get everything right. i use it
for the last track, when cdda2wav fails.
hey, anybody know something better than cdda2wav??
i "think" both progs are on the RH contrib cd.
hth,
mike
