[is this the right place for sound device driver issues?]
Hi, I have a YMF724 based sound card (yamaha chip). It has an
OPL3 and SB emulation on the legacy audio block, as well as a
"pci audio block" which promises direct audio access. I got
the tech sheets from yamaha's site for the 724 (and the 754 which
supersedes it), but neither describes the "pci audio block".
It is trivial to turn on the legacy audio block, and after doing
so, it is possible to load the opl3 and sb drivers (sb only
emulates up to 3.01, however). Upon doing so, I can use the opl3
synthesizer fine, but playing audio through the sb driver does
not produce any audio output (although it seems to take about
the right time.. ie. no hangs, irqs working properly?).
Any ideas why the sb driver's output would be silent? This is
a PCI card emulating the legacy ISA SB card, are there any
weird issues with DMA that I should be aware of?
Has anyone had luck getting specs for the pci audio block from
yamaha?
