VIA VT82C686A Chipset

I submitted a question yesterday and the suggestion to add

option sb support=1

to conf.modules fixes the problem. Thankyou. 


Everything looks OK (see output below) but i cant hear much.

I tried the following, 

> cat /usr/share/sndconfig/sample.au  > /dev/audio

and could only hear a very very faint (full volume, ear pressed hard
against speaker) sound (like somebody talking?). I tried a CD as well
but could not hear anything.

The IO address, DMA channel, Interrupt selection all look correct as
selected in the Bios setup. The speakers are amplified. 
 

Any suggestions.
