playmidi and ALSA

Hi

I'm using alsa 0.5.1a with a soundblaster 16 card on a redhat 6.1
system. I can use everything with sound as I could before, accept for
playmidi. I get this error when running it:
playmidi: no playback device found

The OSS emulation for the mixer, pcm, and sequencer are loaded so how do I
use playmidi with ALSA?
