[Sound] crystal sound card woes

I have a hp machine with crystal sound card.
I installed redhat 6.2 and upgraded the kernel to 2.4.0
Everthing is working fine but I am not able to configure sound . When i 
insert
a audio cd, cdplay comes up and starts playing but there is no sound.
ditto with xmms.
This is what /proc/pci says for snd card

sndconfig doesnt work and stops saying it is not kernel 2.2 series.

If  somebody can tell how /etc/conf.modules should look like
for the sound part, it would be good
