[Sound] Problem with RedHat 7.0 sound!

I "upgraded" RH 6.2 to RH 7.0, and am having a bunch of problems. One of them
is sound.  When I run sndconfig from the (text) terminal, a window on a blue
background appears, declaring "A probe will now be performed ...", but when I
hit the "OK" button, another window appears titled "ERROR: No Sound Modules
Found", claiming that "soundcore.o was not found in the module search path".

But I then did the "find . -name 'soundcore.o'" command from the / directory,
which discovered the file in question:

./lib/modules/2.2.16-22/misc/soundcore.o

Its size is 6939.

(Incidentally, I am using Creative AWE64 16-bit Audio (SB16 compatible).)

What is wrong?
