I installed RedHat 7.0 on my HP Omnibook 4150 laptop. The sound card is
recognized as a NeoMagic MagicMedia 256AV, but it doesn't work.
I removed the sound modules and was able to install the modules for an
OPL-SA2/3/x sound chip using sndconfig with the following setting:
I/O Port 0x530
IRQ 5
DMA1 1
DMA2 0
MPU I/O 0x300 (or 0x330)
Control I/O 0x380 (or 0x370)
This got the sound card to work.
I would prefer to use the same setting of the sound device from Windows
2000, but that doesn't look possible in sndconfig. Here is the info:
NeoMagic MagicMedia 256AV Audio Driver (WDM)
PNP Device ID PCI
IRQ 10
Memory Range 0xFe000000-0xFE3FFFFF
Memory Range 0xFE700000-0xFECFFFFF
NeoMagic MagicMedia 256AV NMA2 Codec (WDM)
PNP Device ID ACPI/NMX2210/4&2658D0A0&0
IRQ 5
I/O Port 0x0220-0x022F
I/O Port 0x0530-0x0537
I/O Port 0x0388-0x038F
I/O Port 0x0120-0x0121
Is it possible to use different settings from those enforced in sndconfig?
Also, if I use a kickstart file to install RedHat 7.0, what entry can I put
in the ks.cfg file to avoid installing the NeoMagic MagicMedia 256AV and
install the OPL3-SA2/3/x sound chip?
Thank you.
